TRAVELING EXHIBITION

“Glass Works – European Glass Lives in Craft, Art and Industry”

Time and place:
20.07. – 22.11.2020 in Grønbechs Gård, Bornholm (DK)
The exhibition gives insights into five regional glass landscapes in Europe and presents current works by young glass makers in art and design.

The exhibition focuses on the cultural-historical and current peculiarities and movements that characterize the glass regions of Eastern Bavaria, the Czech Republic, Alsace-Lorraine, Styria and Denmark and what connects them. Current glass products from the regions, deeply connected to the glass tradition, stand for pioneering ways. A short film also presents expert assessments of the future in glass. The internationality of glass and what connects the regions today and then becomes particularly clear on the basis of the 18 portrayed “cross-border commuters” in their cross-border lives with and for glass. Contemporary glass objects from art and design, the result of an international start-up training course of the EU project Glass Works, conclude the exhibition.
