Focus: Industry 4.0

State-of-the-art, fully automatic machines produce packaging glass non-stop.

 

The industrialization process in western Styria began with the construction of glass factories in coal mining areas. Coal as a new energy potential in the 19th century, the invention of the Siemens regenerative furnace in 1856 and the railway connection created ideal conditions for the glass industry. Technological progress, awareness of modernity and the international exchange of knowledge ensured constant further development.

 

Today around 5.2 million machines run daily on IS machines in Köflach. Bottles from the conveyor belt and are exported all over the world. Crafts are economically unprofitable in this context; Employees are therefore used to monitor the system. In the age of Industry 4.0, manufacturing processes are automated and digitized.
