Glass artist * 1981 in St. Petersburg
Born in Russia, Maria Koshenkova studied in St. Petersburg and continued her education in glass and design on Bornholm (DK), in Kalmar (SE), and Copenhagen (DK). Today the glass artist lives in Denmark and travels internationally for teaching assignments and exhibitions.
Her sculptures and installations connect different worlds: Russia with Scandinavia, and glass with metal and wood. Although Maria Koshenkova has completed glassmaking courses herself, she often cooperates with professional glassmakers to implement her conceptual work. She produced most of her works as part of Artist in residency Programs: e.g. in Graz (AT), Paris, Berlin, Krasnodar (RUS), Milville (NJ), Bergen (NOR), Sázava (CZ), Nagoya (JPN), and on the Maldives. The travels shape her work: Again and again she encounters different conditions, places and people who influence her.
