“Creating Glass Lives” was the headline of our conference and workshop on the future of glass from May 31st to June 1st, 2019. The topic of the first day of the conference was how European glass regions are reinventing the cultural heritage of glass. In the Frauenau Glass Museum, politicians and interested parties from Eastern Bavaria discussed with experts from Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic. From projects and regional development initiatives in Denmark and Sweden, we spanned the arc to the synergies of industrial design, art and craft in the globalized Czech glass scene.
On the second day in Tom’s Hall we asked about ideas and models for success for young glass people, about idealism and business, collaboration and innovation. In the large painting studio of Bild-Werk established artists, collectives and projects were presented and were lively discussed. They talked and danced in front of Tom’s Hall until late into the night – a first step had been taken!
